A JURY has found a 26-year-old Perth man not guilty of the stabbing murder of his casual housemate, but guilty of his manslaughter.
Patrick Kenneth Dolbey pleaded not guilty to murdering Rick Paul Magistro, 25, at a house in Camillo, in Perth's southwest, early on February 4 last year.
Dolbey, who was 24 at the time, was accused of stabbing Mr Magistro with a kitchen knife in an amphetamine-fuelled rage.
But he claimed he was acting in self-defence, warding off Mr Magistro with the knife after wresting it from him when he had tried to attack him.
After a nine-day trial, a jury on Thursday found Dolbey not guilty of murder but guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter.
Mr Magistro was stabbed multiple times and died of wounds to his heart.
Justice Lindy Jenkins will sentence Dolbey, who remains in custody, on October 26.
